I love summer time. When I was a kid, it meant swimming lessons, dance classes, theater workshops, trips to Baguio and the beach and food, food, food!!

When I was a freelancer theater actress/stagehand/events producer, my summers meant only one thing: TRUMPETS PLAYSHOP!!! I used to teach Children’s Musical Theater and Musical Theater for Teens, and I would attend Streetdance classes with the Manoevers (I never know how to spell their name) for myself. I can’t wait till Basti is old enough to attend Children’s Theater. Even if he’s not inclined towards MY art and would rather go for Papa’s visual arts, it’s still a great way to develop confidence and personality for any person of any age. When I took Chari’s Musical Theater for Adults one time, our age range was 13 to 45 years old. Na-lurkey si Chari in figuring out our showcase.

This summer is no different. TRUMPETS PLAYSHOP IS ON! Classes start on April 4 already! Not only do they have theater classes, but they’ve got Modeling, Public Hosting and Speaking and a class called Starpower(does this class make you artistahin?) You may call 631-7252/ 6362842 or 0917-8964034, or visit www.trumpetsplayshop.com.

I’m on the lookout for a dance class. Hiphop but not hardcore, with mommies in the class. Any leads?

COLOR YOUR WORLD WITH TRUMPETS PLAYSHOP

Sunday, March 13th, 2011
The fiery red-hot summer days are here, and that only means one thing: TRUMPETS
Playshop is back!
The number one summer workshop in the country is swinging its doors open once again
at The Podium, Alabang Town Center, Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Global City inviting
everyone – from kids to the kids-at-heart – to color their worlds with the performing
arts.
Playshop started out in 1993 offering only a few acting classes for kids, teens and adults
with award-winning singers Bituin Escalante and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson of The
CompanY as two of the first “Playshoppers”. Now on its 18th vibrant year, TRUMPETS
Playshop carries on the legacy of polishing God-given talents and producing world-class
performers such as pop idol Christian Bautista, teenage sensation Sam Concepcion and
Analin Bantug of West End’s Miss Saigon.
For summer 2011, TRUMPETS Playshop continues to make learning fun and exciting
with the theme “Color Your World”. This is our way of encouraging everyone to
celebrate their unique talents by simply letting their ideas run free. Contrary to popular
belief, it is not money that makes the impossible possible: it is imagination. When you
imagine, you let yourself go beyond the boundaries you dare not cross. You overcome
things that terrify you, like being on stage and performing in front of people, and before
you know it, your world is different. Your world has become more exciting. More
colorful.
Whether it’s Musical Theater, Crumping and Poppin’ and Lockin’, Public Speaking,
Hosting or Modeling that you’re interested in, Playshop has a class especially designed to
make that star within you shine. MusicAdemy – Playshop’s Music and Language Center –
is also open to those who want to bring their hidden minstrels and maestros out into the
world.
We’re also happy to introduce new classes in this year’s line-up: Photography classes for
kids and adults, Filming class using mobile phones, Basic and Advanced make-up classes
with Airbrush Technique under model and make-up artist extraordinaire Lou Bunyi-
Pareja, and Voice Masterclass for Musical Theater with Professor Janet Sabas-Aracama
of the University of the Philippines College of Music.
Without a shade of a doubt, TRUMPETS Playshop is the perfect place to unleash your
full potential by learning from the greats. Leading our roster of brilliant faculty members
is theater veteran Jun Ofrasio for Musical Theater, The Maneouvers for Streetdance,
renowned broadcaster Kata Inocencio for Public Speaking and Hosting, runway goddess
Patty Betita for Modeling, visionary Patrick Uy for Photography and the Philippines’
premier vocal group The CompanY for Starpower.
Spice up your summer and add some shimmer in your life! Join TRUMPETS Playshop
and start coloring your world!
The summer shindig starts April 4, 211 at The Podium, Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Alabang
Town Center and Global City. Call 6362842 and 6317252 or drop by TRUMPETS
MusicAdemy (5th Level, Shangri-la Plaza Mall) for inquiries. Visit us on the web via

Playshop Starpower

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Starpower is an intensive training course for vocal performers.

It aims to provide the workshop students with suggested tools and skills to present an efficient and effective vocal performance in the varied styles of contemporary music.

The class also aims to discover and experience one’s musical possibilities and one’s musical realities—i.e. What’s available, What’s conceivable and What’s possible.

The class will be taught by a well renowned singing group — The Company.

For inquiries call 6317252/6362842

Playshop Streetdancing

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Streetdancing is a dance style that evolved outside the ‘dance studios’ in everyday spaces such as streets and school yards.

The class will enjoy learning to move to different styles namely breaking (commonly referred to as breakdancing), popping (based on the technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a jerk in the dancer’s body) and locking (relies on fast and distinct arm and head movements combined with more relaxed hips and legs).

Streetdance will be taught by a well known dance group—The Manoeuvres.
